Time and tide wait for no one: When tweakments alone may no longer be enough

As we ring in the New Year, it’s likely everyone’s new year’s resolution includes wanting to end the year looking, being and feeling better than when we started it. As more and more people pursue the path of subtle, natural looking enhancements, “tweakments” have become a sought-after routine for individuals to maintain a more youthful appearance without undergoing surgical procedures. Award winning, Kensington-based aesthetic surgeon, Dr Rozina Ali recognises the significant benefit and personal satisfaction that can be achieved from ongoing minimally invasive treatments, such as dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation therapies and Botox.

Consistency is key, little and often are the watch words and a thousand steps make up a life’s journey. These tweaks and treatments play an essential role in maintaining a youthful look while time passes….however, just as time and tide wait for no one, Nature wreaks her changes, time invariably marches forward and the point may come when multiple small adjustments can no longer deliver enough or lead to the desired results. Dr Ali will help you recognise when it might be of most benefit to transition from tweakments to more comprehensive procedures to better help you achieve your long-lasting goals.

Tweakments delivered well by experienced and innovative surgeons like Rozina can offer amazing and immediate results – a quick, non-invasive glow up to restore lost volume, lift the brows or soften fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Rozina’s patients find these treatments extremely satisfying, helping to build confidence, making them look and feel their best, without much down-side or recovery time, allowing them to go about their daily lives with minimal disruption. Tweakments performed regularly and thoughtfully can be transformative, they are not however impervious to the march of time and sometimes more is required to catch up with Nature. As the ageing process progresses, structural changes in the face, including fat redistribution, bone resorption and loss of skin elasticity progress
too. This can make so called ‘tweakments’ less effective, which is why many of Rozina’s patients consider surgical treatments for more sustained, long lasting and substantive transformations.

The things that Rozina looks for that may indicate it is time to take her patients’ treatment plan to the next surgical level might include; when dermal fillers no longer restore youthful contours; then fat grafting or implants may be necessary, when skin laxity becomes so pronounced that injectables are losing their impact, it is likely that removing tissues and lifting/tightening structures becomes necessary. This is the stage when neck lifts or facelifts will deliver more longer lasting results. Sometime its simply my patients desire for noticeable transformation that goes beyond what is possible with tweakments, then procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery might be necessary.

Simply put, surgery opens up the opportunity for more extensive improvements, especially when there’s significant loss of elasticity, sagging, or deflation that injectables and products are not able to address. Modern aesthetic surgery has really progressed and can now deliver natural looking, long-lasting results without those significant recovery times historically associated with such procedures.

As with everything in life, balance really is key and tweakments and surgical treatments are not mutually exclusive – far from it. Dr Ali prides herself on developing bespoke treatment plans with her patients, tailoring procedures to complement previous non-invasive treatments and creating a seamless transition between tweakments and surgery. Many individuals opt for surgical interventions to
achieve their long-term goals, while still incorporating non-surgical treatments as part of their ongoing maintenance plan. Others prefer the step by step improvement until they’re ready for the bigger leap. It’s a relationship, with time, with Nature.

In Rozina’s practice, you don’t have to choose between surgery and tweakments, both types of treatments can complement each other beautifully. The best advice Rozina could give would be to book a consultation with a trusted medical professional, someone you can be confident will tailor an approach to meet your unique needs and goals and is not limited.

Time, Tide and tweakments wait for no one ; but with the right team, you can continue to shine at every stage of your journey.
