How will a labiaplasty benefit me?
Labia, come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours. There is no right or wrong to nature. They have a function and they have a shape. Rozina will always aim to preserve form and function.
However, if there are concerns such as chaffing, recurrent infections, discomfort in tight clothing or with activities such as cycling, horse riding or intimacy, then it maybe that surgical intervention is sought. Aesthetic dissatisfaction alone may trigger self-referral and is not uncommon.
Having misshapen, large, or asymmetric labia minora can become more noticeable with age. In the young it can become a source of private dissatisfaction, especially when wearing a swimsuit and can cause both discomfort and embarrassment. Individuals may also note a change in labia shape, size or symmetry following significant hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause). Labia can also be torn, injured or split during childbirth or an episiotomy.
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to repair, reduce the size, or to reshape, the inner vaginal lips (labia minora) to address injury, discomfort or self-consciousness. This may follow childbirth, injury, hormonal changes, or for aesthetic reasons.

How the labiaplasty procedure works
The Consultation
The consultation process for labiaplasty is a crucial step where Dr Rozina Ali will assess your individual needs and goals. During the consultation, you will discuss your medical history, including any past surgeries, current medications, and lifestyle factors such as smoking or alcohol use. Dr Ali will evaluate the anatomy of the labia, explain the procedure, and discuss the potential outcomes and risks, ensuring you have realistic expectations. The consultation also offers an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the procedure, recovery, and aftercare.
Whatever your concerns, Rozina has the experience and expertise to help you. She was the gynae-oncology reconstructive lead for Norfolk and Suffolk and served the sub-speciality needs of the 1.6 million population.

Your Treatment
Labiaplasty can be performed using either general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia as a day case procedure. The labia are shortened or reshaped by removing excess tissue and the remaining edges carefully opposed and sutured together with fine, dissolvable stitches. The bilateral procedure usually takes less than an hour to complete and patients usually go home on the same day, following an observation and monitoring period.
Your Aftercare
Mild bruising and swelling is to be expected. The discomfort can be relieved by resting, wearing supportive underwear and mild analgesia such as paracetamol. Light activities, including returning to work, can be resumed within a few days to a week. Full recovery, return to sexual activity and aesthetic outcome however, will take several more weeks.

Where will the treatment take place
With operating facilities in such prestigious locations as Harley street, South Kensington, King Edward VII hospital and the Weymouth Street hospital in Marylebone, you can be assured of expert and responsive surgical care. Wound checks and outpatient visits are offered in both Marylebone and Kensington around several sites in the sumptuous Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
