Dr Rozina Ali is a multi-award-winning consultant plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon, recognised as a pioneer in regenerative aesthetics. With more than three decades of surgical epertise and a background in reconstructive microsurgery, she has been instrumental in developing protocols that harness the body’s own biological processes to repair, restore and rejuvenate tissue.
Long before regenerative treatments became one of the world’s most-searched aesthetic trends, Dr Ali was already leading this evolution, blending artistry and cellular science to achieve natural, lasting results. In this blog, she reflects on the global rise of regenerative aesthetics and explains how her approach anticipated the future of beauty medicine.
Eighteen months ago, I wrote about the science of regenerative aesthetics, a field I’ve been privileged to pioneer for more than a decade. Back then, the concept of using the body’s own biology to repair and rejuvenate felt groundbreaking. Today, the global data proves that regeneration has truly arrived.
New analysis by Aesthetic Medicine, drawing on worldwide insights from Fresha, shows a dramatic rise in demand for regenerative treatments. Polynucleotide injections alone have seen searches increase by almost 190 per cent globally, with the UK and UAE among the most active markets. This evolution marks a significant shift in patient priorities, away from simply filling or freezing the face, toward restoring health, vitality and structure from within.
In my practice, regeneration isn’t a passing trend, it’s a philosophy; rooted in the belief that skin is a living organ with an extraordinary ability to repair itself when supported correctly. Years before regenerative aesthetics became mainstream, I was exploring how to use the body’s own cells, tissues and biological signals to stimulate renewal at the deepest levels. Whether through stem-cell-enriched fat transfer, exosome therapy or polynucleotide injections, my goal has always been to work with the body’s intelligence, not against it.
The science behind these treatments continues to fascinate me. Stem cells, harvested from a patient’s own fat, are pluripotent; capable of transforming into different tissue types, including collagen-producing fibroblasts. When reintroduced into depleted areas, they regenerate new, healthy tissue instead of merely creating artificial volume. Similarly, polynucleotides, derived from purified DNA fragments, rejuvenate fibroblasts, enhance elasticity, and calm inflammation. These treatments are subtle, profound and natural, restoring glow, turgor and firmness over time without disrupting facial harmony.
Awesome Exosome technology represents the next frontier. Exosomes are microscopic messengers released by cells to coordinate cell actions, from healing to regeneration. When applied to skin, they can optimise its internal environment, increasing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production while reducing inflammation. I often pair exosome therapy with microneedling, using the micro-channels to deliver regenerative actives deeper into the dermis. This combination yields remarkable results in improving sun damage, texture and tone, creating skin that not only looks younger but functions younger.
The global rise in regenerative aesthetics mirrors a wider transformation: patients today want to look healthy, rested and real. They’re drawn to treatments that enhance vitality rather than erase individuality. Fresha’s data also reveals growing searches for IV drips and wellness-based therapies, underlining how beauty and wellbeing are converging. For me, regenerative aesthetics sits perfectly at that intersection, where art meets science and aesthetics guides medicine to support the body’s own potential.
My ethos has always been to integrate regenerative principles into every level of care, from subtle non-surgical rejuvenation to refined surgical enhancement. These techniques don’t DENY the ageing process; they elevate it, guiding the body to repair itself naturally, safely and quite beautifully.
As the field catches up with this Taoist philosophy of “leaning into your strengths”, I’m proud to see regenerative aesthetics recognised not as a futuristic concept, but as the gold standard of modern, intelligent beauty. At the R&A Clinic, we call it Luxury Wellness.
